Miss R | Jacksonville NC Sunrise Beach Boudoir Session

In the photography world, there are different type of people you photograph. Clients. Models. And muses. Muses are someone there’s just something about them that you want to put on film, so to speak. Ruth is one of my muses. Last time I was in Massachusetts, we hung out and took some pictures at a park. At the end of it, I told her I had an idea; I wanted to put her in leaves and sunshine. She agreed and she totally rocked it (at my Aunt’s house, we didn’t need anyone calling the cops on a naked lady in public!).

When I started planning this trip, I immediately contacted Ruth with another awesome session idea; I wanted to do more outdoor boudoir, but this time on the beach. The main thing with this session was the start time. We didn’t want to be interrupted and the beach can be rather busy at sunset, which left us with one other option: sunrise. Which was at 5:10 am.

The day before the session, I was shivering and listening to the weatherman talk about how it was the lowest high temperature in fifty something years. I messaged Ruth and gave her the option to reschedule. Her response: “Pain is beauty?”. So I set my alarm for 3:30.

It was cold. But it was so serene watching the sky lighten as the sun rose.

Ruth got there and we made a few jokes about the weather. I even checked the water to see how cold we were talking (notice there are no pictures of her in the water…I’m not cruel).

We had fun, the session felt more like a hangout then work. Then again, that’s how a lot of my sessions feel.

Without further ado, meet my muse, Ruth.

Ruth made this boudoir shoot seem like it was a warm day on the Plymouth MA beach, you can’t tell that it was frigid and sunrise! Looks like you girls had a lot of fun frolicking on the beach 🙂 I love how much motion you captured, there’s a lot of movement and life to these photos. Great job!

I love the one with her sitting on the beach with her back to camera and she is just peeking over her shoulder. What a beautiful sunrise beach session. You both were so brave. If you hadn’t said anything I wouldn’t have thought it was cold at all!

Very vintage, pin-upesque type photoshoot. Definitely would not would guess it was cold though:)
