November 1o is the official Birthday of the United States Marine Corps but the annual Birthday Ball can range anywhere from October to December! In this case, Cassidy and Jarrett’s Ball was scheduled for December 15th. We met in downtown New Bern for their session since it was on the way to their Greenville Ball location. New Bern is one of my all time favorite places so I was very excited for this session. When we arrived, we noticed Tryon Palace had been decorated for the holidays (and their annual candlelight event) so we stopped in front of the palace for a few quick shots, then headed the rest of the way downtown. New Bernians are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met, and it was awesome to be walking with Cassidy and Jarrett as many people rolled down their windows to thank him for his service. The weather was chilly, but we didn’t let that get in the way of showing off Cassidy’s gorgeous ball gown!

They are the prince and princess of New Bern! I’m drooling over her dress. All the glitter and sparkles! How fun that they get to be all dressed up for the Marine Corps ball each year.

These are not your average stuffy Marine Corps ball portraits. Such a fantastic idea to turn this into a photo shoot. In the one in front of Tryon Palace, they look like a prince and princess in front of their castle.
