This session was so much fun; Ms F is actually a member of our behind the scenes team! She very graciously agreed to model so we couldĀ have some hands on training for our newest team member: Kat! While the “purpose” of the session was training, we still wanted to treat Ms F to the full client experience. Her hair & makeup was done by the super sweet and always fantastic Makeup by Madie. While Litalee took the time to familiarize Kat with the studio (and where everything is located!), Ms F and I headed to the Wardrobe Room. She brought a few pieces of her own and we decided to pull from the client closet itself! Honestly, as soon as our newest piece arrived I KNEW I was putting it on her. The dress fits her style so well and so perfect for this beautiful boudoir session.
Since we were training Kat, we took the time to use different lighting techniques. We started in the bedroom set with Ms F rocking a great floral teddy from the client closet. In addition to giving us gorgeous images, this really showed Kat how a session works even when she’s not holding a light. I have to admit, it was both hilarious and humbling listening to Litalee explaining a boudoir session from her perspective.
The next thing we did in the bedroom set was playing up some drama by pulling out the black satin sheets. We also added some lighting, which is something we’ve done before but not super often. (We used this technique in Ashley’s & Ryan‘s sessions most recently). It’s a totally different look from the natural light, but it’s still just as stunning. We used the sphere, snoot, and bounce to create different lighting looks. Ms F rocked her posing, even though I know my instructions can sound crazy! For these images, she wore a super gorgeous red teddy she brought with her. The color with her fair skin tone was absolutely perfect and played off her red lipstick.
Time to head to the sitting room set! This time, Ms F switched over to the black teddy she brought with her, and we added in the wings. We continued using the lighting in the sitting room to play up the drama of the wings and the contrast to her teddy. There’s something visually interesting about something so sexy with something angelic. We also pulled out my favorite toy, the crystals, to add a little artsy flare. Dramatic light is a great way to add variety during your beautiful boudoir experience.
For her second outfit, we pulled our newest client closet piece. I purchased this specifically as an option to be worn with with wings. Fortunately, the dress almost seems designed to have been worn with them and we were able to put them both on. The rose gold of the dress matches perfectly with the champagne wings. We switched over to natural light for these images because we were playing up the beautiful boudoir. After some posing with the wings, we changed things up and took the time to get some images with the dress. We also grabbed the crown from the client closet to play up the bougie boudie feel. Finally, we wanted to see how the dress did with the “arch” pose and not only did Ms F rock out the pose, we got an unexpected surprise from the light bouncing off the sequins.
For her third set, we went into the red room. Ms F rocked another client closet piece, our red lace teddy. I love these in the red room because there’s something that just works with the red on red. Add in some harsh light done right and Ms F rocked it out! We also incorporated her black leather jacket for a few images that came out absolutely gorgeous!
Continuing in the red room, Ms F switched back to her black teddy. We pulled out the neon lighting and the crystals to create some really fun images. I’m going to be totally honest, I don’t like doing things in Photoshop. The crystals allow me to create some really fun artsy effects but they’ll be unique to each client because they are being made during your session.
Finally, Ms F popped into our shower set for some steamy (hahaha) images. True story, no matter what temperature we use in there, it steams up! Litalee directed Kat on how we usually do things in the set and Kat did an amazing job! Ms F was also on point with her posing and listening to my crazy ideas as we moved her around in there.
In conclusion, huge shout outs to: Makeup by Madie for her flawless hair & makeup, Ms F for being an awesome model, Litalee for her at times hilarious peeks into her side of the session, and Kat for being a super fast learner!
